REFLEXOLOGY

WHAT'S REFLEXOLOGY?

Reflexology is a non-invasive therapy that uses the feet as a map, or mirror, of the whole body. By manipulating, and applying pressure to certain parts of the feet, the whole body can be 're-tuned' and brought back into balance.

Reflexology is a natural, holistic therapy, which means that it treats the body as a whole. The therapist looks for the root cause of the symptoms and treats all the systems of the body, through the feet, paying extra attention to the areas that may cause imbalance.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF REFLEXOLOGY?

It relieves stress and tension and has a deeply relaxing effect

It improves blood circulation

It helps release trapped nervous energy and improves neural efficiency

It improves waste removal and elimination

It activates the body's self-healing process

This gentle technique can alleviate a wide range of conditions based on Relaxation and the body's self healing activation

  • Stress related problems

  • Skin conditions
  • Headaches
  • Sinusitis
  • Asthma
  • Premenstrual syndrome and hormonal problems
  • Digestive disorders
  • Sleeping disorders
  • Back pain
  • Problems with Conceiving

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A SESSION?

The first thing you will do when you get into the room is to sit down and fill out a consultation form so your therapist can establish there is not any contraindication for you to the treatment, and reassure that you are not allergic to possible creams applied to your feet.

If you are getting Reflexology to improve any health issues or condition the consultation form will be a bit more extended than if you just get Reflexology for relaxation.

After the consultation comes the treatment, so after removing your shoes and socks you will sit/lie down comfortably in the bed. You keep your own clothing during the session at all times, and you will be provided with a blanket to make you feel warm and cosy during the whole session.

Before starting, the therapist will apply Surgical Spirits to your feet(antiseptic liquid applied to clean the skin).

There are washrooms available and tissues and towels if you feel a bit uncomfortable to take off your shoes and socks especially if you come straight from work or from doing exercise. but don't worry because your feet will be cleaned before the treatment.

Before and after the Reflexology the therapist will do about 10 minutes relaxing massage to your feet.

Reflexology should not hurt but some areas on the foot may feel tender or different, even a bit uncomfortable, this is normal.

Some people worry that they are very sensitive, especially in the sole of the foot. After few second handling the feet the skin of the foot will get used to be rubbed and the tickle disappears.

It is advisable not to come with an empty stomach to the session, or after a heavy meal, this gives all the systems of your body a chance to focus on the deep relaxation and the healing process, rather than the digestion or the hunger.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED?

The length, frequency and return visits will vary according to the client's needs. A consultation form will be filled out and taken at the first session, the therapist will be able to help you to organize your treatment according to your individual needs.

If you would like to try Reflexology to treat some health conditions it is recommendable to allow from 3 to 6 sessions on a weekly basis to perceive some benefit.

In my experience clients start feeling some improvement after the second and third session, but it is good to follow a 6 session treatment to gain the maximum benefit possible.

Maintenance:

After the initial treatment, it is recommendable to keep getting a Reflexology session from time to time, to maintain the overall balance obtained during the treatment.
